Together, First Book and C&S created the Food for the Body, Food for the Mind initiative. Since 2007, Food for the Body, Food for the Mind has helped connect hundreds of schools and programs to First Book's resources and placed 200,000 free, brand-new books into the hands of children who might not otherwise have books of their own.
Our support to First Book is a long-term investment. We believe that improving literacy...inspiring children to love books and reading...leads to increased opportunities, better outcomes in school and in life, and decreased poverty.
First Book was recently featured in a New York Times article, "A Book in Every Home, and Then Some" by David Bornstein.
