Reaching children and families over weekends
Through Feeding America’s BackPack Program, children receive bags filled with nutritious food to take home for the weekends and school vacations.
Containing wholesome, easy-to-prepare meals and snacks, the backpack is provided to eligible children free of charge and is distributed to the child’s school on a weekly basis during the school year (an average of 40 weeks). School personnel then ensure that the children receive the food. Schools often select children who are receiving free or reduced-price breakfast or lunch to receive the bags, as the eligibility for these programs provide a solid gauge for families in need.
C&S has proudly been supporting the BackPack Program since 2009.
