Company Contributes to the Growth and Well-Being of its Headquarters Community
January 7, 2010, Keene, N.H. - C&S Wholesale Grocers has been named Business of the Year by the Keene Chamber of Commerce. Hundreds of community leaders, business owners and executives gathered for the Chamber's annual gala, offering the company a standing ovation. The organization recognized C&S' outstanding contribution to the economic strength, health and social well-being of the area.
C&S has four platform, or focus areas, for its community involvement: Hunger, Children, Environment and Volunteerism/Service. The audience heard details and examples of the company's commitment in each area.
In accepting the award, Bruce Johnson, C&S Executive Vice President of Human Resources, said, "In addition to supporting community groups, C&S provides high-quality jobs which add to the economic vitality of the region. We employ 18,000 people across the country; 1,000 work at our corporate headquarters here in Keene. This is a wonderful honor for all of us. Thank you."
C&S has received numerous awards including Wholesaler Innovator of the Year, Feeding America's Grocery Distributor of the Year, and a national Neighborhood Partnership Award from the Food Marketing Institute.
