C&S Funding Helps Support Share Our Strength Initiatives

In recognition of World Food Day, C&S announces funding for Share Our Strength

In recognition of World Food Day, a global event to encourage action in the fight against hunger, C&S Wholesale Grocers announces funding for Share Our Strength, a national nonprofit partner focused on ending childhood hunger in America. The investment in Share Our Strength includes the Conference of Leaders, the Teachers Report and support of the No Kid Hungry Campaign.

Conference of Leaders - Share Our Strength's annual conference, scheduled for October 16 and 17 in Baltimore, Md., engages, educates and inspires key supporters, including volunteers, grantees, advocates, chefs and corporations. More than 480 participants will discuss hunger-related topics, celebrate achievements and hear from anti-hunger leaders. C&S has been the presenting sponsor of the conference since 2009.

Teachers Report: Hunger In Our Schools - The third annual Teachers Report, to be released in 2012, will again combine teachers' personal stories and observations with a formal survey of teachers from schools across the country. The reports provide comparable year-on-year data and supports Share Our Strength's goal of calling attention to hunger in America's classrooms and the solutions that surround kids with healthy food before, after and during the school day. C&S has provided funding for the Teachers Report since its inception.

No Kid Hungry Campaign - Support from C&S will help establish Share Our Strength's on-line Center for Best Practices. Available 24/7, and launching at the Conference of Leaders, the Center for Best Practices facilitates learning and sharing of good ideas and tactics among groups working to end childhood hunger through comprehensive, state- and city-based efforts.
