Keene, NH – C&S Wholesale Grocers has announced that the company’s calendar year 2009 United Way campaign was the most successful ever. Nearly $900,000 will be invested in the company’s communities through United Way.
“The United Way and the LIVE UNITED message make clear that all of us have a stake in each other’s success and that everyone has a role to play in advancing the common good in our communities,” said Rick Cohen, CEO. “Our employees expressed their understanding of that with much needed pledges. Their support for the work of the United Way is something to be proud of.”
Donations from employees to United Way and C&S corporate matches are 24% higher than in 2008. Participation by employees in the annual fall campaign rose to 23%. The increase in giving and participation was driven by C&S human resources personnel who helped to raise awareness and increase pledges above past results. The campaign also sought to create growth in pledge commitments from executives, and create compelling materials about the United Way and how it strengthens families and communities.
In the C&S headquarters community of Keene, N.H., the company was recently honored with the Circle of Excellence award from the Monadnock United Way. The award recognized both the company’s commitment and the spirit of its employees to give back to the community, locally and nationally.
